“Life is rare. Consciousness is a single candle, flickering in the wind, and one storm could put us all out. So we will carry that flame to other planets and other suns. And we will bring the one language that never needed words: the night. Where strangers rest, gather and dance as one under the same stars, until every star is home.”
— Anthony Perlas, Founder, Nightlife Report
“We’ve got this delicate candle of consciousness flickering here, and it may be the only instance of consciousness, so it’s essential we preserve it.”
— Elon Musk, in Walter Isaacson, Elon Musk (Simon & Schuster, 2023), ch. 14
Our Mission
The only light we know of.
Nightlife Report exists to keep it burning: together here first, then among the stars.
Look up tonight. There are billions of stars, and by the odds, worlds like ours should be common. Yet we listen, and the sky stays silent. As far as we can tell, we may be the only minds that have ever looked up and wondered.
That makes life a candle in a storm. In October 2024, a telescope caught a small asteroid just an hour and forty-six minutes before it struck our sky, and no one realized until after it had hit. That one was harmless. The next one might not be.
SpaceX set out on a mission of “making life multiplanetary.” We believe we must go further: across many suns, a spacefaring civilization that stops fighting itself and settles the ten nearest stars together.
But no ship will carry a people who cannot share a room. So where does a divided world learn to be one? Look at any dance floor at 1 a.m. Every faith, every race, every class and creed, moving to the same song. Everyone has a life at night. It’s how we rest, how we find each other, how strangers share a drink and leave as friends.
Nightlife is the universal language of community. We will tell its story, keep it burning, and carry it with us all the way to the stars.
01
Life is rare.
By the odds, the galaxy should be full of voices like ours. So far, we have heard none. Every life on this planet may be among the rarest things in the universe.
02
Life is fragile.
In 2013, an asteroid no one saw coming exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, and injured more than 1,600 people. One planet is one point of failure.
03
The night unites us.
Music and dancing need no translation. Every religion, race, class and creed has a life after dark. The night is where a divided world practices being one.
“SpaceX wants to make life multiplanetary. I say we go further, across many suns, as one people. Instead of fighting each other, let’s settle the ten nearest stars. And we will learn how on the dance floor, because nightlife is what unites us all.”
History will not wait for us. Stand with the night.
