About Nightlife Report

“Life is rare. Consciousness is a single candle, flickering in the wind, and one storm could put us all out. So we will carry that flame to other planets and other suns. And we will bring the one language that never needed words: the night. Where strangers rest, gather and dance as one under the same stars, until every star is home.”

— Anthony Perlas, Founder, Nightlife Report

Nightlife Report / Our mission

“We’ve got this delicate candle of consciousness flickering here, and it may be the only instance of consciousness, so it’s essential we preserve it.”

— Elon Musk, in Walter Isaacson, Elon Musk (Simon & Schuster, 2023)

Make love the language of a spacefaring civilization.

Nightlife Report unites the world after dark, because love is the one language every person already speaks. We report the night so that language outlives every empire and travels with us to the ten nearest stars.

AboutLos Angeles · New York · 21+

Nightlife Report is an independent nightlife and fashion desk for Los Angeles and New York. 21+ only.

LA photographer Anthony Perlas founded it to cover what happens after dark on the record: the rooms, the runways, the people who make a night worth writing about.

How we work

  • Dated. Every report says when it was written and when it was last updated.
  • Sourced. We link to where a fact came from, and we tell you when something comes from our own photos and notes from the night.
  • Corrected in public. When we get something wrong, we fix it and add a dated note saying what changed. Read our corrections and standards.
  • Independent. No venue, promoter or designer pays for a score, a placement or an award.
  • 21+. We cover adult nightlife, for adults.

Runway Points and the judges’ panel

At fashion shows, we score our coverage with Runway Points, a format borrowed from college wrestling. Designers are teams, every look is a bout, and team points come from dual meets. Three judges score each rated model from 0 to 10 on walk, presence, styling and camera. Readers who sign up for our newsletter make up the fourth judge.

We score the work, never the body. That means no height, weight, measurements or age. Runway Points is Nightlife Report editorial scoring, not an official result of any show.

The judges’ seats are roles, not characters. No judge names, imitates or quotes any real television judge.

Our network

Nightlife Report is a SEROPTICS desk. Related sites, each described in its own words:

  • SEROPTICS: “Mothership for independent creators.”
  • OTTE Models: Los Angeles talent booking for venues, promoters and private clients, 21+.
  • OTTE Agency: “Crew that shows up,” a Los Angeles crew desk for producers, directors, editors and photographers.
  • OPELVME: AI automations for service businesses.

These relationships never decide what we cover or how we score it. When a story involves one of them, we say so in the story.
