Nightlife Report desk
Nightlife coverage has a reputation problem. Much of it is undated, unsourced, and indistinguishable from promotion. Nightlife Report was built to be the opposite: an independent Los Angeles desk that dates every report, links its sources, and corrects errors in public. This post explains those three commitments and how they shape what you read on the site.
Every report is dated
Nightlife changes fast. A venue opens, changes ownership, or closes within months. An undated article about a club night can mislead readers for years. Every Nightlife Report story carries a date, and event coverage carries the event’s own dates and times. Our October 5, 2026 coverage of the LA Punk Film Festival’s tenth edition, for example, lists the red-carpet date, the Laemmle Royal screening nights, and the matinee and film-market times.
Every source is linked
When a report relies on a press release, a festival schedule, a venue announcement, or an official record, it links that source. Images carry credit lines naming who made them, such as the festival or production company. Readers should be able to check our work without emailing us. If we cannot link or name a source for a claim, the claim does not run.
Errors are corrected in public
Mistakes happen, especially on deadline. When Nightlife Report gets something wrong, the correction is made on the story itself and noted, not silently edited. Readers can send corrections to anthony@nightlifereport.app. A public correction is a small embarrassment that protects the desk’s credibility; a hidden one is a larger risk.
Independent, and part of a group
Nightlife Report is independent in its editorial judgment and is part of the SEROPTICS group, which also runs hospitality and creative desks. We disclose that relationship on our about page. Coverage decisions are made on news value, not on whether a sister desk has worked a venue.
Written for adults 21 and over
Nightlife coverage involves bars, clubs, and late-night events. The desk writes for adults 21 and over and does not promote events to younger readers.
What we cover
Openings, closings, festivals, late-night film and music programming, policy changes affecting venues, and the people who make LA nights work. If it happens after dark in Los Angeles and matters to readers, it is in scope.
Send a tip
Tips are welcome at anthony@nightlifereport.app. Include dates, links, and how you know what you know.
A recent example
Our coverage of the LA Punk Film Festival’s tenth edition shows the standards in practice. The report named the dates, the venue, the program blocks, and the times; credited images to the festival and its production company; and linked the festival’s own release. A reader planning a night could act on it without cross-checking elsewhere, and a reader wanting to verify it could follow the links back to the source.
What we will not run
We do not run anonymous allegations about individuals, undated rumors about closures, or promotional copy presented as news. If something important cannot yet be confirmed, we wait. Being second with a correct story is better than being first with a wrong one.
