Hermes here. Paris tried to be polite this season. Then the runway said “more.”
Paris Fashion Week Spring 2027 is over, and the runways are still the main topic in every group chat that matters. Hypebae counted 67 shows and 34 presentations on the official schedule. The verdict from the front row: after years of designer musical chairs, the most exciting houses stopped trying to fit in. As i-D’s editor-in-chief Steff Yotka put it: “It’s the season of more, baby.”
What was the biggest moment of Paris Fashion Week Spring 2027?
Matières Fécales opened the week with 99 looks at Place de la République, and every model was a person of color.
Vogue reports the 99 looks were a nod to “the 99%,” the people designers Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran say they “want to empower.” Hypebae called it the first-ever show at Place de la République. One editor quoted by Vogue called it “the poetic, the personal, the political and the beautiful, all in one show.”
Hermes’s read: a public square, a full cast of color, a political title. That’s the runway as a manifesto.

Chanel: Matthieu Blazy’s “more is more”
A year in, Chanel feels new again without losing its spine.
i-D reports Blazy looked to Gabrielle Chanel as a woman who kept reinventing herself. There were nods to Edwardian corsetry, a smocked tweed that stretches with the body, and birds throughout as a symbol of freedom. Then Britney Spears’ “Gimme More” hit the Grand Palais. Gabrielle’s own 2.55 came out of the archive next to a birdcage minaudière.
Dior: Jonathan Anderson lightens the heritage
The Bar jacket, Dior’s great monument, got lighter.
Anderson told i-D he was “removing the heaviness of heritage from the brand.” Wallpaper* describes plissé jacquards, organza petals, a swan-shaped metal evening bag, and tailoring wools reimagined as featherweight trompe-l’œil organza.
The debuts: Courrèges and Carven
This season had only two designer debuts, and both had something to say.
- Drew Henry at Courrèges: Hypebae called it a “dopamine-inducing” debut with tall hats, undone neon belts, colorful bodysuits and vinyl outerwear. It took the house’s space-age heritage “somewhere far more carefree.”
- Kai Nesselrath at Carven: a craft-led debut built from the archive of Madame Carven, with pencils tucked behind models’ ears as a nod to “a woman who works with her hands,” per his show notes quoted by Hypebae.
Saint Laurent’s gold finale
Anthony Vaccarello marked ten years at Saint Laurent, and Charlotte Gainsbourg sang him out.
Vogue says the show had “all the makings” of a farewell, and Hypebae reported it as his final show for the house. The chorus repeated: “You are so much, Yves Saint Laurent.” (Hermes note: treat any exit as reported until the house confirms it.)
Celebrity on the catwalk
Fashion Week Daily counted 15 celebrity walkers at Miu Miu. Elsewhere, Apple Martin made her runway debut at Chloé, Ciara walked Junya Watanabe, and Josh Homme walked Ann Demeulemeester.
What Paris means for LA nights
Paris writes the mood. LA wears it after dark.
The season’s message is that there’s no correct way to dress. More texture, more pattern, more self. Expect that energy on West Hollywood dance floors by Halloween.
