Twenty Shows In: The Movement LA Fashion Week Outlasted the Hype

The following is excerpted from a press release issued by Eight Ray Talent Agency, for The Movement LA Fashion Week (Nov. 1, 2026). Read the full release at the source: https://www.openpr.com/news/4678618/the-movement-la-fashion-week-celebrates-its-20th-annual-event

The Movement LA Fashion Week will celebrate its 20th annual event on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at Hotel Clark in Los Angeles. Red carpet arrivals begin at 6:00 PM, followed by the main event from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM PT.

The evening will feature fashion designers, two musical performances, a live band, a DJ, red carpet arrivals, a networking mixer, food and bar, and VIP experiences.

Bethann Hardison – a modeling pioneer who walked the 1973 Battle of Versailles, became one of the first Black women to own a modeling agency, and launched the careers of Naomi Campbell and Tyson Beckford.

The facts

  • Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2026, red carpet 6 p.m., show 7 to 10 p.m.
  • Hotel Clark, 426 S. Hill St., downtown Los Angeles
  • Honorees: Bethann Hardison and artist Laolu Senbanjo
  • Hosts @lejourla_ and @survivalofthecreatives; designers as announced by @themovementla

Our Take

Most Los Angeles fashion weeks die young. They launch with a sponsor, a ballroom and a press wall, and by year three they are a hashtag nobody uses. The Movement LA is on its twentieth.

That is the story. Not the red carpet, not the DJ. Durability. Founder Kisha Waters has built something the bigger brands keep failing to build in this city: a room that comes back.

And then there is the honoree. Bethann Hardison walked Versailles in 1973, the night American designers embarrassed Paris, and went on to open the doors that Naomi Campbell and Tyson Beckford walked through. Putting her name on a downtown hotel runway is a statement: the independents are claiming the lineage, not borrowing it.

Our bet is unpopular in some corners: the future of LA fashion is not a single official week. It is a constellation of stubborn, community-built shows that refuse to quit. When the historians of the spacefaring age, human and otherwise, want to know how earthlings dressed and why, they will find the truth in rooms like Hotel Clark on a Wednesday night, not in a brand’s press kit.
