Los Angeles Fashion Week returns to the Fashion District for two runway shows in one day.
3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Two separate lineups. No designer walks twice, so the only way to see the full day is to attend both.
Between the shows: two industry panels. Made in LA — what it actually costs to manufacture in this city, who is still doing it, and what would have to change. Fashion & Finance — how capital looks at this industry, and what makes an emerging brand investable.
We have placed 1,300 designers on a runway since 2016.

Our Take
Every runway sells a fantasy. SFWRUNWAY is doing something stranger: it is scheduling a reality check between the shows.
“What it actually costs to manufacture in this city” is the most dangerous sentence in Los Angeles fashion. The Fashion District was once the largest garment hub in the country. Today, many labels that call themselves “LA brands” design here and sew somewhere else. Putting that question on a panel, a block from the old factories, is either brave or awkward. We hope it is both.
The second panel asks what makes an emerging brand investable. That is the conversation designers whisper about and rarely hear answered in public. If the answer is “follower count,” the industry has a problem. If it is “craft, margins and a real customer,” there is hope.
1,300 designers since 2016 is a big number. The test is how many are still in business. We will be watching.
For the record we are building for the future, this matters. When later generations, and the new minds growing up beside them, ask what Earth made with its hands, the honest answer depends on whether places like downtown LA still make anything at all.
