London’s Ministry of Sound and the streetwear label Von Dutch have teamed up on a limited capsule of three caps, each drawing on club and street style from a different decade: the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s (Summer Festival Guide). The hats go on sale on the Von Dutch and Ministry of Sound websites on Friday, November 13.

What’s in the Ministry of Sound x Von Dutch collection?

According to the announcement (Summer Festival Guide):

  • The ’90s Trucker Cap: an all-over multicolored graphic print inspired by the kaleidoscopic visuals of the 1990s club scene.
  • The ’00s Denim Cap: washed finishes and distressed detailing pulled from the denim-heavy Y2K years.
  • The ’10s Trucker Cap: monochrome styling and minimal branding, inspired by the darker, more understated clubwear of the 2010s.

When and where is the launch party?

The capsule launches with a free-to-attend party at Ministry of Sound’s Elephant and Castle home on Thursday, November 12, from 6pm to 10pm. DJs Olive F, Sian Owen and Manuka Honey are on the decks. Artist and designer Detroit Dyer-Millier leads an interactive installation called “Pimp Your Peak,” where guests can make their own one-of-one Von Dutch trucker hat. The organizers also list Dave’s Hot Chicken, Peak Moods drinks and tooth gems by Oona Beauty (Summer Festival Guide). Sign-up runs through vondutchlovesmos.com.

Why is Ministry of Sound doing this now?

The collaboration closes out the club’s 35th anniversary year. Ministry of Sound opened in London in 1991 (Summer Festival Guide).

The Nightlife Report take

This is the kind of drop that works because it’s small. Three caps, one per era, and a party where people make their own. A club with a 35-year archive doesn’t need a full collection. It needs a souvenir that proves you were there. LA venues with history could do the same. For more fashion-meets-dance-floor dates, see the fashion afterparties of November 7 weekend.
