The Creator’s Week in Superintelligence: An Assistant That Works While You Sleep, 30-Second Scenes From a Photo, and a Patch You Cannot Skip

Superintelligence · For Creators

Three tools worth a creator’s attention this week, one repair worth ten minutes tonight, and why the best assistant is the one that asks first.

Every week the machines grow a little more ambitious, and every week the people who make things for a living must decide which ambitions are worth their time. This week offered three tools a working creator should understand, one urgent repair for anyone who runs a website, and a useful reminder that the most valuable feature of any assistant is knowing when to ask permission.

Claude Duet: the assistant that keeps working after you log off

Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet on Oct. 21, with a waitlist for Pro and Max subscribers in the United States on iOS, Android and the web. It is built around Claude Opus 5.5 and does something most assistants only promise: it runs in its own virtual machine with its own browser, so a task can continue while you step away, and it greets you with a morning brief of what it has done.

The detail that matters most is the leash. According to the company, Duet asks for approval before it sends, pays, signs or deletes anything. It plugs into more than 6,000 connectors — Canva for social campaigns, Shopify, and Stripe’s Link for a virtual card among them. One early tester, brand strategist Mya Dalton, put it plainly: “I love that proactivity.” For a creator juggling a booking inbox, a merch shop and a posting calendar, that is the whole pitch.

Kling 4.0 arrives inside YouCam: a photograph becomes a 30-second scene

Perfect Corp. announced on Oct. 23 that its YouCam apps now run the newly released Kling 4.0 model. The headline numbers: up to 10 keyframes, 30 seconds of continuous video, lip-synced dialogue with stereo sound, support for more than nine languages, and “trend remakes” that borrow the movement of a reference video. For nightlife promoters, that is a flyer that moves — and, for the rest of us, a reason to look twice at any clip that seems too smooth to be true.

Seedance 2.5: powerful, labeled, and not yet in the United States

ByteDance’s Dreamina launched Seedance 2.5 on Oct. 23, with 30-second clips, up to 50 multimodal references per project, and editing by timestamp and by character. The rollout is to subscribers aged 16 and over in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America — which means readers in Los Angeles will be watching other people’s results for now. Its companion image model, Seedream 5.0 Pro, with layers and text rendering, is available more widely, including in the U.S.

Worth applauding: Dreamina says its output carries C2PA Content Credentials and invisible watermarks. The more convincing synthetic video becomes, the more its labels become a matter of manners as well as law.

The repair you cannot postpone: a critical PHP security release

On Oct. 21 the PHP project shipped versions 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 and 8.2.35 to fix two critical vulnerabilities that can allow unauthenticated remote code execution. WordPress.org followed with a plain-language note: WordPress itself needs no update, but the PHP your host runs does. To check your version, open Tools → Site Health → Info → Server in your dashboard; if it is below the numbers above, ask your host to update. PHP 8.1 and older no longer receive updates from the PHP project, and 8.2 reaches end of life on Dec. 31, 2026.

Portfolio sites, booking pages and shop fronts are exactly what attackers like: small, busy, and run by people with better things to do. Ten minutes this weekend is a bargain.

This week’s checklist

  • Check your site’s PHP version and ask your host to patch it.
  • Join the Duet waitlist if you live by an inbox; insist on its approval prompts.
  • Try a 30-second Kling clip for a party promo — and label it as generated.
  • Watch Seedance 2.5 output from abroad before you plan around it.

Superintelligence will not make anyone interesting. It will, however, give interesting people back their evenings — which, at this publication, we consider a moral good.
