LA’s Red-Carpet Season Starts Nov. 5: Four Nights That Set the Tone Through the Globes

Four nights in five weeks will decide what Los Angeles wears, and who it talks about, until January. Women In Film opens the run on Nov. 5 at The Beverly Hilton. LACMA follows on Nov. 7. The Academy hands out Honorary Oscars on Nov. 15. And on Dec. 7, at 5 a.m. Pacific, the Golden Globes nominations land. Here is what each night is, who is being honored, and why it matters after the cameras go home.

Nov. 5 · WIF Honors at The Beverly Hilton

WIF (Women In Film) holds its biggest fundraiser of the year on Thursday, Nov. 5, presented by Max Mara (WIF press release). Jane Fonda will present Salma Hayek Pinault with the Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award. Nancy Meyers will present Pamela Abdy with the inaugural Vanguard Award. Adria Arjona receives the WIF Max Mara Face of the Future Award, and Gemma Chan and Beth de Araújo share the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Film for Josephine (Variety).

Nov. 7 · LACMA Art+Film Gala

The 15th Art+Film Gala honors artist Vija Celmins and filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio co-chair for the 15th straight year, and Gucci has been the presenting sponsor since the first gala in 2011 (LACMA). ROSÉ is the musical guest (LACMA). Audi provides transportation, and Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three opens Dec. 18 (THR).

Nov. 15 · The Governors Awards

The Academy’s 17th Governors Awards take place at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood, in partnership with Rolex. Honorary Oscars go to Glenn Close, animator Floyd Norman and director Ridley Scott. Killer Films founders Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler receive the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award (Academy Press Office). Jennifer Todd produces. Norman was Disney’s first Black animator, and Vachon and Koffler founded Killer Films in 1995.

Dec. 7 · Golden Globes nominations

Nominations for the 84th Golden Globes are announced Monday, Dec. 7, at 5 a.m. PT. The ceremony follows on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027, at 5 p.m. PT (Golden Globes).
