LA Weekend

Friday dances, Saturday decides, and Sunday sings along to The Score.

Darlings, the city has voted, the count continues, and the weekend refuses to wait for it. From a house-music legend at the Palladium to a fiftieth-anniversary-plus procession in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles has arranged a Nov. 6–8 calendar with something for every pair of shoes. We have sorted it by night, flagged the free ones, and kept the details to what the venues and listings actually say. All times are Pacific.

Friday, Nov. 6: The Dance Floor Returns

Discover Los Angeles lists British DJ Carl Cox at the Hollywood Palladium, presented by Factory 93, with OMRI., Kidoo and Athena also on the bill. Across town at 1720, the blog-house night D.A.N.C.E. celebrates its tenth anniversary with Bag Raiders, Uffie and CSS. Prefer a seat? Incoming LA Phil music director Daniel Harding leads Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Nov. 6, 7 and 8.

  • Carl Cox, Hollywood Palladium.
  • D.A.N.C.E. 10th Anniversary, 1720.
  • Conan O’Brien and the Vigodas, Teragram Ballroom.
  • Alanis Morissette, Butterfly with a Machete, YouTube Theater, Inglewood (also Thursday, and Nov. 10–11).
  • Lakers vs. Trail Blazers, Crypto.com Arena, NBA Cup group play.

Saturday, Nov. 7: Culture by Day, Volume by Night

Saturday is the heaviest night of the weekend, so plan it like a seating chart. By day, the Self Help Graphics & Art 53rd annual Día de los Muertos celebration begins at 2 p.m. at Mariachi Plaza, where Danza Azteca Chicomecoatl leads the procession to the Boyle Heights building for a block party with Los Lobos and La Santa Cecilia. The Corita Day Festival fills SCI-Arc with art-making stations, KCRW DJs and Bob Baker Marionettes.

For the free-and-crafty crowd, LAist recommends the 13th annual L.A. Zine Fest, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Angel City Derby Warehouse downtown, with more than 350 vendors. After dark, choose your stage:

Sunday, Nov. 8: The Score, and a Glow on the Boardwalk

Sunday belongs to the Hollywood Bowl, where Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Fugees’ The Score. If you would rather your art arrive free and luminous, LAist lists Luminex: The Infinite Between, an outdoor projection show at 5 p.m. along Ocean Front Walk and Venice Boulevard in Venice Beach. Cinephiles can catch the final LA Loft Movie Club of the year, a one-minute-film night themed “Foragisms,” 7 to 9 p.m. at the Philosophical Research Society in Los Feliz.

  • Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, Hollywood Bowl.
  • Luminex: The Infinite Between, Venice Beach, free.
  • Chargers vs. Texans, SoFi Stadium.
  • Clippers vs. Pelicans, Intuit Dome.
  • PROOF Film Festival, Egyptian Theatre and Los Feliz 3, Nov. 5–8.

The Practical Part: Getting Home

Three big Saturday shows, at the Palladium, the Wiltern and the Bowl, will empty onto the same boulevards at roughly the same hour. Decide your ride before the encore. Waymo’s driverless service now covers about 210 square miles of the county, including the South Bay as of Tuesday, though it still does not serve LAX, Los Angeles magazine reports. Metro, a rideshare or a designated friend all beat a guess at 1 a.m.

Lineups and times can change. Confirm with each venue before you go, and buy tickets only from the venue or its official seller.
