Wednesday is Mercury day.
The Romans called it dies Mercurii, the day of Mercury: Rome's messenger god, patron of merchants, travelers and eloquence. That's where Spanish gets miércoles, French mercredi, Italian mercoledì and Romanian miercuri. English kept the idea and swapped the name: Woden (Norse Odin), the Germanic god matched with Mercury. Wōdnesdæg became Wednesday.
Seven classical planets, seven days:
Sun · Sunday
Moon · Monday
Mars · Tuesday
Mercury · Wednesday
Jupiter · Thursday
Venus · Friday
Saturn · Saturday
Why that order? Ancient astronomers ranked the seven from slowest to fastest (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon) and gave every hour a ruler. 24 hours later the cycle lands three steps ahead. That skip draws a seven-pointed star, and the star is the week.
Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo. Gemini or Virgo in your Sun, Moon or rising? Wednesday is your day. Today's move: send the message you've been putting off.
Tradition and culture, 2,000 years of it. Save this. Send it to your Gemini.
