Why Thursday Is Jupiter's Day: Dies Iovis and the Spiritual Forecast

Thursday is Jupiter day.

The Romans called it dies Iovis, the day of Jupiter: king of the gods, lord of the sky, thunder, oaths and the law. That's where Spanish gets jueves, French jeudi, Italian giovedì and Romanian joi. English kept the idea and swapped the name: Thunor (Norse Thor), the thunder god matched with thundering Jupiter. Þunresdæg became Thursday.

Seven classical planets, seven days:
Sun · Sunday
Moon · Monday
Mars · Tuesday
Mercury · Wednesday
Jupiter · Thursday
Venus · Friday
Saturn · Saturday

Why that order? Ancient astronomers ranked the seven from slowest to fastest (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon) and gave every hour a ruler. 24 hours later the cycle lands three steps ahead. That skip draws a seven-pointed star, and the star is the week.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces and is exalted in Cancer. Sagittarius or Pisces in your Sun, Moon or rising? Thursday is your day. Today's move: make the bigger ask you've been shrinking.

This Spiritual Forecast episode for Thursday, November 5, 2026 carries the day into the sky: quiet solar conditions (NOAA), Jupiter hours in West Hollywood, and the Capitoline lineage from Olympia to Rome — framed as tradition, not science.
