What You Missed: West Hollywood and Koreatown Halloween 2026, in the Rain

Nightlife Report Halloween 2026 cover

5 min read

Our reporting. West Hollywood and Koreatown, Halloween weekend, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 2026.

It rained on Halloween in Los Angeles, and nobody went home. That’s the story. A city that cancels brunch over a cloud put on umbrellas and showed up in the thousands. Here’s what you missed, sourced to public posts and news reports, venue by venue.

1. The Carnaval didn’t care about the rain

West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnaval ran 6 to 11 pm on Saturday, Oct. 31, filling the mile of Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny and La Cienega (Daily Sundial). Thousands came despite steady showers; tents lined the street and people ducked into bars to stay dry (CBS Los Angeles). One local karaoke bar manager told CBS the city “turns into like Vegas extreme.” NBC4 notes the event usually draws about 100,000 people a year (NBC Los Angeles). Friday’s pre-party already packed the Rainbow District shoulder to shoulder (WeHo Times).

2. Politics took the stage

On stage, the city honored two council members finishing their final terms, Mayor John Heilman and Council Member Lauren Meister. Then Vice Mayor Danny Hang and U.S. Sen. Adam Schiff both opened with jokes aimed at President Trump (WeHo Times). Our reporting’s question: is a free street party a place for partisan punchlines? Half the crowd cheered. The other half came for costumes. Either way, it’s the clip that traveled.

3. Behind the rope: Delilah and the h.wood doors

Delilah, on Santa Monica Boulevard, hosted an invite-only Halloween Masquerade with a Sofi Tukker performance (LA Guestlist). The h.wood Group, which runs Delilah, The Nice Guy, Poppy and Bootsy Bellows, promoted Halloween weekend across its rooms without a public lineup, as we reported last week (Nightlife Report). That silence is the product. In LA, the most exclusive party is the one that doesn’t tell you it exists.

4. The Haunted Hotel on Melrose

Darren Dzienciol’s Haunted Hotel returned to LA after a New York year, hosted by Vanessa Hudgens with co-host Oliver Trevena and a DJ set from Zack Bia, at an undisclosed West Hollywood location on Melrose, strictly invite-only (Galore). Galore reports that people were posting TikToks campaigning for guest list approval. Think about that: people auditioning in public for a private party.

5. Inside the rooms: Keys, Delilah, Harriet’s and Poppy

Since we first published, the venues posted their own Halloween night to their stories. Here is what they showed, credited to each account. Our reporting describes only what is in the posts.

6. Koreatown went retro

Koreatown was the quietest corner online: Instagram’s location search returned no venue posts from the night, so this section rests on published listings only. Were you there? Send photos.

In Koreatown, The LINE hotel ran a double bill: Thriller, an 80s costume party at Break Room 86, 9 pm to 2 am (OTBLA), and Le Freak, a 70s disco party at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang next door, with one pass for both rooms (The LINE). Moonlight Ktown Lounge on Wilshire threw a reggaeton and hip-hop costume party, free with RSVP before 10:30 pm, and a secret Koreatown rooftop rave ran 5 to 10 pm as the city’s pregame (Mood, Mood). Bonus: clocks fell back that night, so Koreatown got an extra hour.

7. The first-principles read

Our reporting: WeHo sells openness, a free mile of street anyone can join. The h.wood rooms sell the opposite, a door you can’t see. Koreatown sells nostalgia at a fair price. All three were full in the rain. The lesson for every promoter in this city is simple: people don’t come out for weather. They come out for a reason to become someone else.

What’s next: Thanksgiving, then the long run to New Year’s

Halloween is the biggest costume night. Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday Nov. 25, is the biggest bar night, because everyone is back home with nowhere to be the next morning. Here is what is already on the calendar in Los Angeles:

  • Nov. 2, New York: the CFDA Fashion Awards (CFDA).
  • Nov. 5: Delilah LA marks ten years with an anniversary night (Mood listing).
  • Nov. 7: LACMA Art+Film Gala, with Gucci and a Rosé performance (WWD).
  • Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Eve: the Downtown LA bar crawl, 6 to 11 pm (Eventbrite); Clinic Wednesdays’ Cielo Du Soir at Jungle Hollywood (Eventbrite); a birthday set from a surprise guest at Academy LA (NewSidequest); and INCOGNITO’s 13th annual Thanksgiving Eve rave in DTLA (listing).
  • December: Deorro’s Botas Y Rave in the Park at Grand Park, Dec. 5 and 6; W&W at Exchange LA, Dec. 5; New Year’s Eve with Oliver Heldens at Avalon and RL Grime at Academy (Raveloop calendar).

Our reporting’s first-principles read: the holidays aren’t about the date. They’re about the reason to dress up and show up. Whoever gives people that reason owns the night.
