WEST HOLLYWOOD — The Bureau Fashion Week’s October 2026 Los Angeles Fashion Week ran Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, at The Lot Studios, 1041 N Formosa Ave. The Bureau’s official schedule lists five runway shows: The Opening and Friday Night on Oct. 16, then Saturday Afternoon, Saturday Evening and Saturday Night: The Finale on Oct. 17. Nightlife Report was credentialed for the media pit and photographed two of them: The Opening (Fri, 6:00 PM) and The Finale (Sat, 8:30 PM).

This page is our permanent index of that coverage. Every designer, gallery, interview and recap we published is linked below. For the house-by-house credits in one place, start with Every Designer, Model and Artist at The Bureau Fashion Week LA, October 2026 and Who Walked: Every Designer at the Bureau Fashion Week LA Finale Weekend. Photos are also collected in the Runway Album.

    Day 1 · Friday, Oct. 16 · The Opening (6:00 PM)

Seven designers were on the Bureau’s published bill for The Opening. Houses are listed in the order they crossed our frames, which isn’t necessarily the official running order. Where we couldn’t confirm something, the linked page says so.

Friday Night (8:30 PM) also ran on Oct. 16, with Kimily Jiang, House of Grace Huxley, Susan Kim, VuelaNova, Azul D Plage and Kenneth Barlis on the Bureau’s bill. We didn’t photograph that show.

The Night Before Victoria’s Secret Put 16 Moms on Its Runway, Mirka Howard Made Her LA Debut

Interview · Bureau Fashion Week LA

VS got the headlines for its 16 runway moms. The night before, Mrs. Universe San Marino Mirka Howard, whose kids are in Milan, walked her first LA runway in West Hollywood. What the moms story leaves out.

By Anthony Perlas. Tue Oct 20, 2026. Interview by written questionnaire; her answers are quoted as submitted.

Mirka Howard (@mirhoward28) walks Justin Zachary Look 13, a blush floral-embroidered gown with a ruffled shoulder, at The Bureau Fashion Week LA, Day 2, The Finale, Sat Oct 17, 2026 (frame P1000966). Photo: Anthony Perlas / nightlifereport.app

Sunday night in Los Angeles, Victoria’s Secret sent 16 mothers down its runway, by Harper’s Bazaar’s count, and People named Barbara Palvin, back six weeks after giving birth, its “Best Postpartum Return.” The internet called it progress.

Saturday night, about 24 hours earlier and with no broadcast and no $50 million bra, a different mom walked a different runway. Mirka Howard, a mother of three, walked the Justin Zachary finale at The Bureau Fashion Week in West Hollywood. It was her first runway in Los Angeles. Not her first runway. Her first one here.

Howard (@mirhoward28) usually works the other side of the Atlantic. “I usually walk in Milan and Paris…so this is my first walk in LA,” she told us in a DM. Her kids are in Milan, so, in her words, “I fly back and forth there.”

Asked to describe herself in a line she’d want quoted, she wrote: “Pageant queen, red carpet star and International model”. She also says she is Mrs Universe 2025 representing San Marino. (That’s the San Marino national title, in her words; this isn’t a claim to the global crown.) Nightlife Report caught her from the media pit in Look 13, and then we asked her the questions the industry usually doesn’t.

Mothers don’t walk runways? Tell that to Look 13

Saturday, Oct. 17, The Finale, 8:30 PM show. Justin Zachary sent Look 13 down the runway at 9:34 PM by our camera clock: a blush gown with a sculpted ruffle at one shoulder and pink floral embroidery running from bodice to train. Mirka Howard walked it like a veteran, which, going by her Milan and Paris résumé, she is, just not in this zip code. Full set in our Justin Zachary gallery.

Here’s the debate. Modeling has long treated motherhood as an exit, not a chapter. The industry built its machinery on discovering faces early and replacing them fast; our Eileen Ford series digs into how the agency business learned to sell a face as a product. In that system a model with three kids, a pageant crown with a Mrs. in front of it and a commute that crosses an ocean reads as the exception. Why?

Mirka Howard (@mirhoward28) walks Justin Zachary Look 13, a blush floral-embroidered gown with a ruffled shoulder, at The Bureau Fashion Week LA, Day 2, The Finale, Sat Oct 17, 2026 (frame P1000962). Photo: Anthony Perlas / nightlifereport.app

Pageant culture made room for this a long time ago: the Mrs. circuit gives married women their own stage. Runways, especially the big-budget ones, are still catching up. So when a titleholder who says her kids are in Milan books a West Hollywood finale, is that a novelty, or is it the market finally noticing who actually buys the dress?

    The ‘it’s only glamour’ myth

We asked what people get wrong about her or her industry. Her answer is the closest thing to a mission statement we got all week:

“People often assume that fashion is only about glamour, appearances, and walking the runway. In reality, the industry requires discipline, resilience, preparation, and a great deal of teamwork. Every polished moment on the runway is supported by designers, stylists, makeup artists, photographers, producers, models, and countless others working behind the scenes.”

    — Mirka Howard, in her Nightlife Report questionnaire

Hold that up against the parenting part and it gets sharper. Discipline and preparation aren’t abstractions when the work is in one country and the family is in another. Anyone running a schedule between Milan and Los Angeles is doing logistics most office jobs never ask for, and the industry rarely budgets for any of it.

Milan, Paris, New York, West Hollywood

Milan versus LA is its own argument. Milan sells heritage and the house; LA’s independent runways sell access, energy and the room. The Bureau has been running both coasts, and Mirka Howard’s Bureau story starts in Manhattan:

“One of my most unforgettable moments at The Bureau Fashion Week was stepping onto the runway in New York during NYFW SS27 and feeling the energy, creativity, and passion that brought everyone together. Walking alongside such talented designers and models reminded me why I love this industry so much.”

    — Mirka Howard

New York, then West Hollywood, her first LA walk. She also told us she walked looks for Grace Huxley and Kenneth Barlis at Friday night’s show, which we didn’t shoot. If you did, send them our way. What stuck with her wasn’t the walk itself:

“For me, The Bureau was more than a fashion show. It was an opportunity to challenge myself, celebrate my journey as Mrs Universe 2025 representing San Marino, and continue building my story on the international fashion stage. It reminded me that the most beautiful moments in fashion are not only about being seen, but also about the people and experiences that stay with you long after you leave the runway.”

What the Victoria’s Secret fight keeps missing

The internet spent the last 48 hours arguing about the 2026 Victoria’s Secret show: Kylie Jenner in the Fantasy Bra and the backlash that followed, whether a 70-plus-walk cast means anything, whether VS still scouts. (Our roundup: the fashion internet’s verdict.) And this year, the mothers finally got counted.

But read the list. Angels, supermodels, household names: women who were already famous when they became mothers. The question it doesn’t answer is the one Saturday in West Hollywood raised: does a mom get booked if she isn’t already a VS legend? If the standards debate is really about who the runway is for, a woman who says she walks Milan and Paris, holds a Mrs. title and still flies home to her kids belongs in that conversation. Our position hasn’t changed since we wrote it down in Nightlife Report Standards: modeling isn’t toxic, gatekeeping is: if it looks good and you’re satisfied, do it, and don’t gatekeep what’s great.

The Ford standard, as Eileen Otte Ford laid it out: the “tall, thin, often blond” Ford woman with “wide-set eyes and a long neck” (AP), and the blue-eyed Nordic look Vogue credits her with popularizing in the early 1960s (“They work hard, and they look more American than American girls,” she said of Swedish models). Anyone under 5 feet 7 was told to forget it: “If you’re short you’re not going to model. That’s it” (The Telegraph). The high-fashion bracket, as Robert Lacey records it in Model Woman (Vanity Fair adaptation), started at 5 feet 8, with a 32- to 33-inch bust, a 20- to 21-inch waist and 33-inch hips, because, as she explained, “photographic models must fit manufacturers’ samples.” The 34-24-34 figure is often cited for Ford models (Los Angeles Times, 2014). That’s the historical benchmark, not Nightlife Report’s standard.
Sources: Robert Lacey, Model Woman: Eileen Ford and the Business of Beauty (2015); the New York Times and AP obituaries (2014); The Telegraph; Vogue; Los Angeles Times. Her own books: Eileen Ford’s Book of Model Beauty (1968), Secrets of the Model’s World (1970), Eileen Ford’s A More Beautiful You in 21 Days (1972) and Eileen Ford’s Beauty Now and Forever (1977).

    Why she does it

We asked what made her decide this was her path. She didn’t say the gown:

“I think the moment I truly realized this was my path was when I understood that fashion and pageantry were more than just beauty or wearing a beautiful gown — they were about confidence, purpose, and the power of inspiring others.”

    — Mirka Howard

    And what’s next:

“[I] am building the next chapter of my journey at the intersection of fashion, purpose, and international representation. As Mrs Universe 2025 representing San Marino, I want to continue using fashion as a platform to inspire confidence, celebrate individuality, and connect with creative communities around the world.”

    — Mirka Howard

She says she’s continuing to collaborate with designers, creative teams and brands whose values align with her vision. Follow her at @mirhoward28 and mirkahoward.com.

    The forum question

Is motherhood still a career ceiling for runway models, or did the industry just never bother to book the moms? Milan versus LA, Mrs. titles versus agency boards, the VS casting fight: tell us where you land in the Nightlife Report forum thread.
