After more than five years of silence, Bottega Veneta switched its Instagram back on. On October 28, the revived @bottegaveneta account posted a single Story on a dark background reading “Ciao,” with an empty grid and the same word in its bio (Vanity Fair Italia; Highsnobiety). MilanoFinanza reports the account still has about 2.4 million followers (MilanoFinanza).

Why did Bottega Veneta leave social media?

In January 2021, then–creative director Daniel Lee shut down the house’s social accounts, and the house stayed off through the tenure of his successor Matthieu Blazy, who now leads Chanel. D la Repubblica dates the shutdown to January 5, 2021 (D la Repubblica). In the gap, the fan account @newbottega kept the conversation going.

What’s different now?

Per Vanity Fair Italia, the new profile picture comes from the Fall/Winter 2026 campaign and shows a hand in a sequined sleeve pressing a light switch, and the account follows only two profiles: Kering and creative director Louise Trotter. The return also comes under new CEO Romain Spitzer. The house hasn’t issued a statement.

The Nightlife Report take

Bottega proved a brand can build desire by stepping away. Its return proves something else: even the quietest house eventually needs a direct line to its audience. For LA creatives, the lesson is to own your channel, keep your archive and make the first post count.
