Creators · Tools

Instagram crowned 25 creators. The real lesson is in the tools.

Darlings, the creator economy had a busy week, and very little of it was about going viral. Instagram handed out its most coveted prize, X opened a new paid room for loyal fans, Rumble advertised one of the most generous revenue splits in video, and Adobe taught a phone to rescue the photo where someone blinked. Here is what changed, who it is for, and what a working photographer, promoter or host should do about it.

Instagram Rings: the class of 2026

Instagram announced its 2026 Rings winners on Oct. 29. The annual award honors 25 creators chosen by a panel of judges that, according to Instagram’s creators blog, includes Donatella Versace, A$AP Rocky, designer Emily Adams Bode Aujla, FINNEAS, Chloé Zhao, Mikaela Shiffrin, OSGEMEOS, Charm La’Donna, Eva Chen, Will Welch, Isamaya Ffrench, Vikas Khanna, Jack Edwards and Instagram head Adam Mosseri.

The ring itself is a design object. Bode Aujla designed this year’s piece, set with a four-leaf clover cut from Connemara marble, Instagram says. Winners also receive a gold Stories ring, an expanded profile color picker and a custom like button: small perks, but visible ones, on a platform where status is mostly measured in pixels.

Who’s Who in New York, Rings edition

The New York contingent is strong. Kareem Rahma (@kareem), whose Subway Takes turned a train seat into a talk-show set, made the list, as did photographer Renell Medrano, who grew up in the Bronx (@renellmedrano), director Medet Shayakhmetov (@medet), comedian Pooja Tripathi (@winnie_thepooj) and food storyteller Steven Moto (@stevenmotocooks). Instagram also singled out model Bhavitha Mandava (@bhavithamandava), who, the company notes, was discovered on a subway by Matthieu Blazy and became the first Indian model to open a Chanel Métiers d’Art show.

The takeaway for working creators: look at the list. Nearly every winner has a format a stranger can recognize in one second, whether a subway interview, a nail tutorial or a street portrait. Format beats frequency.

X: subscriber-only group chats

On Oct. 28, X opened subscriber-only group chats in beta. “Chat in real time with your most loyal supporters,” the @XCreators account wrote, adding that the feature is “now in beta for creators with 800 or fewer subscribers” and is set up in Creator Studio under Subscriptions.

Who it is for: the small, devoted audience. A promoter with a few hundred paying subscribers can now give them a members-only room for guest-list news, set times and after-party addresses, which is exactly the kind of access people pay for.

Rumble: up to 90 percent of ad revenue

Rumble is pitching its Partner Program to creators. According to the company’s program page, the program is by invitation only, and partners keep up to 90 percent of ad revenue, with no subscriber or watch-hour minimums. To be considered, a creator needs at least 10 streams or uploads made with Rumble Studio in the past 30 days. Joining is free, and Rumble says terms are discussed one on one.

The fine print matters: “up to” is doing real work in that sentence, and the terms are private. Treat it as a second home for long-form video, not a replacement for your main channel, until you see your own numbers.

Adobe: Open Eyes on Lightroom mobile

The blink is no longer fatal. In an Oct. 19 post, Adobe introduced Open Eyes in Lightroom on mobile, a free, one-tap fix that opens closed eyes in a portrait. Adobe says the feature matches eye color and shape by drawing on other photos of the same person in your library, so the result looks like the subject rather than a stranger. The same release highlights Generative Expand for widening a frame.

For event photographers, the bigger news is speed. Fstoppers reported on Oct. 8 that Camera Raw now supports grid-view culling, letting photographers flag and reject images in bulk before editing. For anyone shooting four hundred frames at a party and posting by midnight, that is the feature that pays the rent. Adobe’s MAX conference runs Nov. 10 to 12, and more tools are expected there.

The superintelligence read

Put the week together and the message is consistent: the platforms are rewarding depth over reach. Rings honors recognizable formats, X is building rooms for the few hundred people who pay, Rumble is courting creators who upload consistently, and Adobe’s superintelligence-assisted tools are about saving the shot you already took. The creator who wins 2027 will not be the loudest one. It will be the one whose audience knows exactly why they show up.
