It started with a club that almost never opened. In 2007, Sean Christie took over a small Wynn room called Lure. His first night was so rough, he told the Review-Journal, that he nearly walked away. Steve Wynn gave him a second try. It became Blush, which Wynn billed as the first boutique nightclub in Las Vegas.
The timeline
- 2007: Blush opens at Wynn Las Vegas, about four hundred guests.
- 2008: Encore opens with a forty-thousand-square-foot club, later named XS, built as the resort’s headline attraction.
- 2010: Encore Beach Club and Surrender open, a sixty-thousand-square-foot day-to-night complex. Kaskade took Sundays; Steve Aoki took Fridays.
- 2017: The Chainsmokers and Kygo begin residencies at XS.
Why it worked
Wynn treated the club as part of the casino, not a tenant. Residencies gave fans a reason to fly in. Tables gave the house a reason to book the biggest DJs.
What it costs now
Indexes list XS entry tables from about one thousand dollars, prime tables six to ten thousand and up, with Wynn’s published fees on top. Encore Beach Club starts near one thousand, with headliner bungalows reported at twenty thousand.
