Trend Report · Fall 2026
Satin at the office, plaid at the cocktail party, and red as the new neutral. Here is what the runways and the editors agree on.
The best fall 2026 trends, Harper’s Bazaar’s Jaclyn Alexandra Cohen wrote on Oct 20, were “all about disrupting expectations. Knitwear became an evening layer; tuxedos took a spin in the sunlight.”
1. Red is the new neutral
Harper’s Bazaar reports Celine and Khaite pulled outfits together with “pops of red”: brooches, belts and jewelry in crimson, and sweaters and denim in scarlet. Start with one accessory.
2. Plaid gets dressed up
Plaid showed up in chiffon and silk at Chanel, Dries Van Noten, Celine, Tory Burch and Chloé. Who What Wear fashion editor Sierra Mayhew: “If you can only buy one piece in this print, make it a plaid wool coat since you’ll reach for it every single year.”
3. Royal purple
Who What Wear’s Judith Jones calls royal purple the easiest trend-forward touch, seen “from Loewe to Tory Burch.”

4. Opulent textiles and the dropped waist
Floral silk faille and tapestry jacquard (Ralph Lauren, Dries Van Noten), and dropped waistlines from Simone Rocha, Tory Burch and Chanel’s Matthieu Blazy. Statement cummerbunds are the hero accessory.
5. For going out
YesStyle’s Oct 19 list adds gothic lace, Art Deco dresses, funnel necks, slouchy bags and jazz shoes. All of them work after dark.
