Part of today’s What You Missed: Sunday, Oct 25.

The hook
A century ago, a young Italian shoemaker built his name in Los Angeles, then went home to Florence. This weekend, his son and the house’s creative director toasted that story in Beverly Hills with Andrew Garfield, Gabrielle Union and Tracee Ellis Ross at the table. Vogue’s party report landed Oct. 24. Here is the backstory, what the renovated store actually offers, and whether it is worth your Saturday.
What happened
- The dinner. Ferragamo hosted a 50-person dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge to celebrate its Rodeo Drive flagship, hosted by chairman Leonardo Ferragamo and creative director Maximilian Davis, Vogue reported. Guests included Gabrielle Union, Andrew Garfield, Gemma Chan, Tracee Ellis Ross and Tinashe. The evening included a screening of the short film Un Passo Alla Volta.
- What they said. “Los Angeles is a part of Ferragamo’s story,” Davis told Vogue. “Salvatore built his reputation in the U.S. This moment is about honoring the heritage while presenting a modern vision of the house.” Leonardo Ferragamo added: “You can imagine what incredible meaning it has for us to reopen the shop after 100 years in the same city where everything started.”
- The store itself. WWD reported on Aug. 5 that the renovated flagship at 357 North Rodeo Drive reopened as the first US store in Ferragamo’s new global concept, designed by Davis with Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen. The concept first appeared on Milan’s Via Monte Napoleone in 2024.
- The specs, per WWD: 9,300 square feet; separate spaces for ready-to-wear, handbags, footwear and accessories; natural stone, textured plaster, glossy resin and red marble inside; and an exterior in textured Chambolle stone engraved to echo Florentine stonework.
- The history. Leonardo Ferragamo told WWD that his father opened his very first store in Beverly Hills and made the decision to return to Italy “exactly 100 years ago,” while still only 29.
Status: CONFIRMED. The store reopening is in WWD’s August report; the dinner, guests and quotes are from Vogue’s Oct. 24 report.

Why people care
- The origin story is real. Few European houses can say their founder made his name in LA. Ferragamo can, and it is leaning into that story hard.
- The Davis effect. Since Maximilian Davis took over, the house has pushed a sharper, younger look. The Cara bag campaign video on Ferragamo’s YouTube channel has more than 700,000 views.
- Celebrity fuel. A dinner guest list like this one usually turns into red-carpet looks later. Expect to see Ferragamo on LA carpets this awards season.
- Creator coverage is light so far. We found few creator videos about the store itself, so the people who walk it first and film it have an opening.
What it means for you
- Go look, even if you’re not buying. The store was designed to feel like “a contemporary Italian home,” per WWD. It is one of the best free architecture visits on Rodeo right now.
- Hours: the store page on Rodeo Drive’s site lists weekday hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call ahead before a special trip.
- What to ask for: whether any heritage or archive-inspired pieces are on the floor. The 100-year story is the reason to visit this location.
- Park smart: the City of Beverly Hills runs public garages around the Rodeo blocks. Check current rates on the city’s site before you go.
- Creators: if you film fashion content, a well-lit, newly designed store is a strong backdrop. Ask staff before filming inside.
Our take (opinion)
From first principles, a flagship is not a store, it is an argument. Ferragamo’s argument is that it belongs to LA as much as to Florence, and the dinner made that argument with the right faces at the right table.
What we’d watch is the product. Heritage gets people through the door. Davis’s clothes and bags have to keep them there. If the Rodeo store becomes a stop for stylists pulling red-carpet looks this winter, the homecoming worked. If it’s mostly a photo backdrop, it is a beautiful museum with a register.
