“There’s nothing low-brow about Anthony’s work.” That was actor François Arnaud, in head-to-toe Saint Laurent, on the carpet at Tuesday night’s WWD Honors, and it set the tone for a day when fashion’s biggest names spoke on the record. Here is what moved in fashion and luxury from Monday night to Wednesday morning, Oct 28, 2026. Every item is checked against its source and linked.

The Maisons: Honors Night in New York

Haider Ackermann’s big night for Tom Ford

WWD headline: Haider Ackermann on Taking on Tom Ford Fashion
Source: WWD, Oct 26, 2026

Haider Ackermann took the WWD Honor for Womenswear Designer of the Year for his Tom Ford collections. WWD reports Tom Ford Fashion revenue reached 226.4 million euros in the nine months to Sept. 30, up 3.5 percent. His idea of luxury is refreshingly low-cost: “Silence is kind of a luxury, and taking the time is a luxury.” Source: WWD

A Saint Laurent salute to Vaccarello

WWD headline: François Arnaud on Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent Exit: ‘I Think He Is Just a Master’
Source: WWD, Oct 27, 2026

François Arnaud wore an oversized navy Saint Laurent suit to the WWD Honors at Cipriani South Street and paid tribute to Anthony Vaccarello, who left the house this month after a decade. “I think he is just a master,” Arnaud told WWD. Saint Laurent announced the exit Oct. 9, and Saint Laurent’s next designer has not been officially named. Source: WWD

H&M’s design prize is back

H&M named eight finalists for its returning Design Award, drawn from more than 60 fashion schools, from Central Saint Martins to Bunka in Tokyo. Each finalist gets 10,000 euros, and the winner, announced in London on Nov. 18, takes 150,000 euros, a year of mentoring and a collection sold in select H&M stores. Source: FashionNetwork

Why it matters for LA: Saint Laurent’s Rodeo Drive boutique is where LA will see the last Vaccarello pieces sell through before a new designer arrives. And if you are a design student in LA, the H&M prize is the kind of break the next cycle will be built on.

Said Out Loud: Leaders on the Record

Arnault’s one regret: Netflix

WWD headline: Behind the Passion That Drives Bernard Arnault
Source: WWD, Oct 26, 2026

In a WWD interview for his John B. Fairchild Honor, LVMH chief Bernard Arnault named the one investment he let go too soon. “I sold my Netflix stake too early; it has since multiplied tenfold!” He says LVMH’s houses must be run “thinking in generations, not in quarters,” and he admitted he dislikes the word luxury, which he says is too often linked to “bling-bling.” Source: WWD

Why it matters for LA: Arnault told WWD he still visits stores on weekends and suggests display changes. LA sales teams at his houses already know the boss is watching.

The Money Talk

Luxury’s 250 billion euro year

Europe’s top luxury groups have shed about 250 billion euros of market value this year as Chinese spending wilts, according to a Financial Times report republished by CNA Luxury. LVMH’s CFO Cecile Cabanis said of the slowdown, “We hope it will subside. We are not sure when.” One bright spot: sales of Birkins and other top-end bags at Hermès grew 10.8 percent. Why it matters for LA: Even US luxury spending has cooled, with Citi card data showing declines of at least 4 percent in July, August and September. That gives Beverly Hills shoppers more leverage on service, alterations and early access this holiday season.

Nike, the University of Georgia and OutKast built a collection from André 3000 and Big Boi’s own wardrobes for the first Georgia vs Florida game ever played in Atlanta. It launched Oct. 27 via SNKRS, with the full collection following Oct. 28. Source: Hypebeast

WACKO MARIA x Champion, round one

Hypebeast headline: WACKO MARIA and Champion Reimagine Reverse Weave Classics for Their First Collaboration
Source: Hypebeast, Oct 27, 2026

WACKO MARIA and Champion made their first collaboration, a five-piece Reverse Weave capsule in heavyweight 11.5 oz fleece with artwork by TIM LEHI. It launches Oct. 31 at 12 p.m. JST, which is 8 p.m. PT on Oct. 30. Source: Hypebeast

Why it matters for LA: Hip-hop heritage plus college colors is the merch formula of the fall. Fairfax lines will be about the OutKast varsity jacket, not the game.

Fashion x Superintelligence

Brands want models’ digital twins

Reuters reviewed more than a dozen photo-shoot contracts in which brands including Diesel, Calvin Klein and L’Oreal sought rights to face swaps, digital clones or training on model images. Diesel’s parent OTB said its release was for one campaign, and Calvin Klein said, “Like many others, we are testing and learning in this fast-moving space.” Source: Reuters (via StreetInsider)

Why it matters for LA: LA models and creators: read the image-rights clause before you sign. A Los Angeles lawyer quoted by Reuters called sweeping contract language “dangerous in its ambiguity.”

KTM’s jet-canopy supercar heads to the US

The Gentleman Racer headline: KTM X-BOW GT-XA Coming To America: 30 Cars, Under $490K
Source: The Gentleman Racer, Oct 27, 2026

KTM X-BOW announced the GT-XA for America on Oct. 27, with 30 first-year cars and an anticipated price of $490,000 or less. The two-seater has an electric fighter-jet canopy and an Audi five-cylinder engine, but it is not yet approved for US street use, so the $50,000 deposit is refundable until it is. Source: The Gentleman Racer

Why it matters for LA: A canopy instead of doors is a valet-stand showstopper on Sunset. Just wait for the street-legal stamp before you plan the arrival.

Runway Magazine Watch

Dior’s gingerbread Montaigne

Runway Magazine headline: Dior Sweet Atelier of Dreams 2026
Source: Runway Magazine, Oct 27, 2026

Runway Magazine’s newest story, posted Oct. 27, tours Dior’s holiday Sweet Atelier of Dreams, which reimagines 30 Avenue Montaigne as a gingerbread palace. The highlights are a 24-door advent calendar inside Dior’s lucky star and a limited-edition music box holding L’Or de J’adore. Source: Runway Magazine

Why it matters for LA: Holiday gifting season starts now. If a Dior advent calendar is on your list, shop early rather than in December.
